The Center for School Climate and Learning (CSCL) has two decades of national leadership experience helping schools improve school climate, adult culture, safety, respect, and learning. We have worked with hundreds of K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and thousands of student leaders and teachers where we have continually custom-designed, evaluated, and redesigned our surveys, leadership development tools and processes, and our professional development workshops and training to meet their unique needs and challenges.

We offer client schools a choice of three different levels of school climate support. Our Comprehensive Safe Measures Process is a student-led, collaborative inquiry process that has been  used in schools for over 20 years. It is a well-researched, proven-effective model for improving school climate and learning. Our 2010 book, Transforming School Climate and Learning: Beyond Bullying and Compliance, published by Corwin Press, (Preble & Gordon) offers a detailed description of this process and how it works. Many schools use this as a common reading  for teachers. This program was also featured in an article in ASCD's, Educational Leadership (School Climate Through Students' Eyes, Preble & Taylor, 2009). This process is typically implemented over a 2-year period and provides a pre-post evaluation of school climate improvement.

We have designed a less resource intensive Train-the-Trainer version of the Safe Measures process that schools can use based on their needs.  Some client schools also elect to use our Do-It-Yourself Model that takes our Safe Measures School Climate Surveys and our School Climate Leadership Facilitator's Guide and is led by a team of local school leaders, teachers and students, using our tools and resources.

In addition, the CSCL offers powerful, interactive and engaging professional development workshops for teachers, school leaders, and students, keynote addresses, and Leadership Summits, Retreats and Team Adventures to help schools build more positive teacher, student, and peer relationships, offer more rigorous, relevant and personalized teaching and learning to more effectively meet the needs of all students.

Let us provide your school, district, agency, or organization with one or more of these exciting professional development and school improvement options to help you make your school safe, respectful, equitable and effective for all students.
