Have a great week,

... the CSCL

Part 3 of 3 part by Dr. Hal Urban

"What it did for me – This was not only the most important thing I did as a teacher, it was the most fun thing I did. What I liked most about being a teacher was being with kids all day because they have so much energy.

I always thought my number one responsibility was to bring out the best in my students. That means helping them channel all that energy in positive ways. We literally carry energy in our bodies, and when we come into contact with each other, we transfer that energy, whether it’s good or bad.

I used to tell my students that I loved their energy, and that I was like a rechargeable battery when standing at the door. If I got 30 positive charges that day I would be a much better teacher. And it was true.

There were many other things I did in those first two weeks of school that contributed to our Caring Community, but it all started with a personal greeting that said, 'Welcome, I’m glad you’re here.' "
